My Old Stories....
Today...I'll be showing you my stories from grade 6. These stories will give you an idea to help you write better stories.
First of all...Thank you for all the ideas!
(Don't worry, Bolu will be in it!)
I'll try and beef things up, but I have to wait until Bolu does something funny, or....himself at home.
Now.......Time to get on with the stories!
Story #1
Be A Cow!
“Okay racers, you need to sprint 400 metres to the tippy bridge, and cross it, then you must then sprint 800 metres to the bikes at the football field.” said the Referee.
“After you hop on to the bike, you need to ride it over a jump that is 2 metres long, and then cross the finish line.” “Remember to...”
Be a cow, April thought.
“On your marks…Get set...GO!” April sprinted as fast as she could. She used her legs to push her forward for more speed. She was going against the big bully, Billy. She looked back and saw that Billy didn’t even started yet. What was Billy up to? thought April.
“This should be the Tippy Bridge,” said April looking at her paper. Just then, Billy sprinted past her and onto the bridge. He quickly and carefully crossed the bridge. Some of the pieces fell down into the lake.
“How are you going to cross it now?!” laughed Billy. Grr, April thought. This was even harder. The bridge was tippy also so April had to watch her step AND not make the bridge too wobbly.
Be a cow, April thought. It was time for her to cross it.
She went onto the bridge, and carefully stabled herself. She took a tiny step, to see if the bridge would wobble. It didn’t, so she took a bigger step, onto the second piece. She kept on doing this, until she saw two pieces that already fell down. She took a big step, forgetting everything, and it wobbled. Very badly. She tried to hold her balance. She knew that Billy was already done, but she couldn’t give up. That’s not what be a cow means right? When the bridge was finally stable, she took a small steps when there wasn’t a piece missing, and big steps, but very slowly, when there was a piece or two missing.
She finished the bridge, when she saw Billy sitting down. Why was he there? she thought. There was no time for thinking though. She had a race to win. April put one leg down, put both of her hands down, and pushed herself forward with her legs to the bikes. She had to push herself with a lot of her strength. She knew Billy was faster than her. What if he ran passed her? She couldn’t look back now. This was an 800 metres run. She was in fast mode. Her mind was thinking about anything, but the finish line.
The bikes were different. The first one was a normal bike. The second one had two rocket boosts at the back. “ZOOM!” Billy had ran to the second bike and hopped on it. Oh no, she thought. I better hop on the first one I guess. NOW! April quickly hopped onto the bike, and put it in its fastest gear. She pedalled with all the might she had left. The bike was moving faster and faster. It was soon zooming to the ledge. She knew that she could make it. It wasn’t a hard jump. The bike zoomed onto the ledge, and was set into the air. It was a perfect jump. Until…
The bike broke. The wheel wasn’t attached well, April thought. The bicycle, was now a unicycle. She didn’t know how to ride a unicycle. “BLAST!!!” Billy didn’t even go onto the ledge. He just around. “Billy, you cheated!” said April trying to shout. Billy just stuck his tongue out and left for the finish line. April could smell victory before. She could see it well. Now, it was bitter. The sound of cheering was from the crowd. Billy must of won, April thought. She looked around and saw a sign of a cow.
Just then, she remembered. Be a cow. She had to at least try to jump over with the unicycle. She had no time. This was her last chance. She stood up, and picked up the unicycle. She ran 100 metres before the ledge. She sat on the unicycle, and tried to keep her balance. It wasn’t easy. She slowly made it up to the ledge, and made the unicycle jump. She felt like she was flying. It was glorious! She carefully watched the other ledge. She tried to get the unicycle up instead of down. She was getting closer and closer. Each time she looked at the ledge, she felt like her heart stopped beating. The unicycle touched the ledge, and it was landed.
She did it! She quickly pedalled to the finish line. Billy was there. He snickered and said, “Ha!” “I beat you now, see?!”
“Billy, I don’t care,” said April. “I have something to tell you all.” “Billy cheated!” The crowd gasped. No one could believe it. April walked to Billy’s bike and took off the paper. “Here is how he cheated!” “Look at his bike too!” The referee looked at the paper, and shook his head to Billy. He checked the bike, and saw the boosts too. He shook his head again.
“Well, you missy are lucky, because I was about to give the trophy to Billy, but he cheated,” said the referee. “I declare you winner of the race!” The referee gave the Big Golden Trophy to April.
She was so happy because she won. Fair and Square. She deserved it. She survived Billy’s tricks. She remembered to: Be a cow.
-The phrase be a cow means to not give up on something. (If you haven’t seen the video, there were these cows in a truck, and the truck tipped over, and the cows fell. The cows though, quickly stood up). When the cows fell down, they stood up. In this story, April never gives up.
Story #2
The Center of the Earth
May was sprinting around the corner as fast as she could. Her heart was beating one million beats a minute. It was hard to breathe. She couldn’t slow down, or the enormous dog would get her. She was so scared. Why is it chasing me? May thought. That dog sure is pretty fast. The dog started to speed up. May was slowing down. She was shaking from head to toe. It was coming closer and closer. May started to go right, then quickly go back left, but the dog followed her. It was like the dog was guarding her so she couldn’t get to the net to score a basket. She was getting farther and farther away from her house.
What time was it? She thought. Her watch said five o’clock. Oh no! She thought. Mom is going to be home in an hour, and I’m 1 km away from our house! She turned around at the corner and started to run back home.
The dog turned around also, but went in front of her. It’s teeth were seven centimeters long, front and back. It’s eyes were red and sharp. It’s paws were as sharp as a cat’s claw, and when it barked, The whole city could hear the dog.
May didn’t know what to do. She was trapped. Until she saw a… hole! The hole was too small for the dog because the dog was extremely big, but May imagined her fitting in there. May ran into the hole and slid down. She couldn’t see anything. She was more scared than ever. She slid until she felt a hard, crumbly thing. The hard, crumbly thing was ground. There was five more holes, and she didn’t know what to choose. “WOOF!!!!!!!!!!”
It was the dog. She knew it. She was about 500 miles away from earth, and she could hear the dog barking. The barking was getting louder and louder. There was something white on the first hole so she read it. It said, “This is the hole to the center of the earth, where you will…” May went onto the second hole and it said, “This is the hole to…” It was ripped. she could only see a t somewhere. She kept on reading them. The one that scared her was the third one. She didn’t want to look at it ever again. The fourth wasn’t helpful anyways, but the fifth said, This is the way back to the earth onto street Maryland. Maryland is the street where I live! she thought. “CLASH CLANG WOOF!”
“W-what wa-as t-t-that?” stuttered May. It was sounding familiar to May, but she was too scared to run. Was it the dog? What if the dog had friends like it? What if it’s…May thought.
“CLASH CLANG WOOF!” The sound was getting louder and louder each time. It sounded like a bird screeching loudly and barking at the same time. Whatever this thing is, May thought, it sure must be huge. She could see something very shiny, white, and razor sharp. It must be teeth! I bet it could cut through anything. Even human skin, May thought. May couldn't believe her eyes. It Her eyes were so open, they could pop right out of her. It was it. The dog. She was so surprised.
The only thing she could was run or change the notes. She was very intelligent, so this wasn’t a problem. She quickly changed it and pretended to go down the third one. She quickly went out of the way, just before the dog went in. The dog was trying to get up because it saw something very scary and bad, but it couldn’t. May laughed and changed the changed the notes back too where there were supposed to be. She went down the fifth one, and she started to slide down, but soon she was going up. “It’s five fifty-five,” May said. She had five more minutes to get home.
She was filthy. How was she going to tell her mom about this? She would have to tell her the truth. She got out of the hole in four minutes. She started to sprint around the corners. She was her mom coming in, so she decided to go in the backyard, and pretend to garden. She heard her mom asking her dad, where she was. May saw her mom starting to come outside.
May,” her mom said.
“Come inside. I know what happened, and I’m happy you're okay.” “Now, lets clean you up, and I want you to tell me where the neighbor's dog went. May was happy that her mom knew what happened, and that she wasn’t mad. She was thinking, How, did my mom know about it? Maybe she saw me running. If she did, then she would know where the neighbor’s dog went. Oh well.
And at last..... Story #3
Never Give Up
“Jump of the cliff Loyal!” Tammy said. I couldn’t do it. I would so be dead if I did it. Besides, what The if I couldn’t get up? I thought. I looked down. It was a long way down. “How about we attach this rope to you?” said Tammy.
“No!” I shouted. I was too scared. Tammy, Carly, and Ben had done it, but I couldn’t. They knew I was afraid of heights, but still, they wanted me to do it. Tammy and Carly tied the rope around me, even though I said no.
“One...Two…” Carly said. I turned around and ran the opposite way of the cliff. I pulled with all my might, so Tammy and Carly would let go. They didn’t. The rope was hurting my waist. The rope was as tight as a cat’s claw swiping my hip. It hurt to much to move now. I tried to untie the knot, but it was a triple knot. I couldn’t go back now. They must of left me. I walked until I saw a sign.
Never give up, I thought. I slowly turned around to the cliff. I carefully took a little step at a time. Just then, I was feeling dragged in. They must of felt me coming closer! I thought. I put both of my hands on the rope. The closer I got there, the more I was dragged. “OW!” I said. The rope on my waist now was making me sick. I couldn’t stand it.
“Can you please take this off me now?” I said.
“Okay, I will,” said Tammy. She untied the knots, and cleared a path for me. “You know, we understand you.” said Tammy. “We really just wanted you to jump, but if you’re still scared, it’s okay.” It was time for me to show them that I am not afraid.
I walked up to the cliff, and took some deep breathes. I needed to take everything off my brain before I jumped. I bent my knees, and rocked my hands. My heart was beating faster and faster. I was sweating everywhere. My body was getting warmer and warmer. My hands were completely wet from sweating. My fear was coming back again. I needed to jump. Was I really ready…? Never give up, I thought.
I jumped off the cliff. I felt so free! The wind was blowing me down and down. It was an adventure! I would do this again. The cool water splashed onto me. I could smell happiness. I could here my friends shouting. I swam to the dry, wet ground. After I was out of the pond, I saw a duck swimming in it. It must love it as much as I did, I thought.
Which one did you like the most?
